The Prime Minister’s Scheme for Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME)  is a transformational initiative designed to support and uplift the micro food processing sector in India.

In June 2020, the initiative was introduced under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan to standardize unorganized food processing centers, enhance efficiency, and boost their earnings.

1. One District One Product (ODOP): 

Promoting the ODOP approach to focus on a single food product per district, which helps in creating a unique identity for local products and encourages specialization.

2. Credit-Linked Subsidy:

Through this scheme government wants to provide a credit-linked subsidy up to 35% of the eligible project cost, with a maximum subsidy amount of Rs. 10lakh/Unit.
